37 professionally recorded sound effects capturing alpine weather in one of Europe's most remote mountain regions. Recorded at 192kHz/24-bit across multiple locations in Montenegro's Kuči Mountain range, where the peaks face Albania's Prokletije (the Damned Mountains).
These recordings were captured on the side of a steep hill overlooking a nearly abandoned katun - a traditional shepherd village - during an active meteorological alert with wind gusts reaching 65 km/h (40 mph). The exposed position and altitude created ideal conditions for capturing the raw power of mountain storms as they moved through the valleys and forests below.
The library covers the full progression of alpine weather: violent storm winds with rain, medium-strength gusts through forest vegetation, calm post-storm ambiences, and the subtle drips and aftermath sounds as the weather system passes. Multiple wind intensities are included, from gentle, cold 25 km/h mountain breezes to extreme 65 km/h gusts that bend trees and tear through vegetation.
All recordings feature the natural acoustics of high-altitude forests - the way wind moves through pine and spruce at elevation, the specific character of rain hitting mountain vegetation, and a few with occasional presence of shepherd dogs barking in distant katun. These aren't manicured nature recordings. This is raw mountain weather captured in genuinely remote terrain where cell service doesn't exist and the nearest road is kilometers away.
